夏恩·杰克逊(Cheyenne Jackson), born on July 12, 1975, in Idaho, United States, is an American actor and singer. He began his career in regional theater and made his Broadway debut in 2002, studying both male leads in the Tony Award-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. In 2005, he originated his first leading role in All Shook Up, earning him a Theatre World Award for "Outstanding Broadway Debut."
On the film side, Jackson portrayed Mark Bingham, a victim and hero of the 9/11 attacks, in the 2006 Academy Award-nominated film United 93, for which he received the Boston Society of Film Critics 2006 award for "Best Ensemble Cast." He has also appeared in the films Curiosity and Hysteria. On television, he is a recurring series regular on NBC's 30 Rock, portraying Jack/Danny Baker. He has also guest starred on several series including Lipstick Jungle, Life on Mars, and Ugly Betty. In 2008, Jackson was cast as the series lead Sebastian Kinglare and filmed the Lifetime Television pilot Family Practice opposite Anne Archer and Beau Bridges, though the series was not picked up for distribution.
Additionally, Jackson has starred in several notable web series and in 2009, he starred in a sold-out one-man show, Back to the Start. In 2008, he was named Out magazine's "Entertainer of the Year." He is an international ambassador for amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) and a national ambassador and spokesperson for The Hetrick-Martin Institute.
Originally born in Idaho and raised in a small rural town near the Washington-Idaho border, Jackson is the youngest of four children. His father, a Native American and Vietnam veteran, named him after the 1950s Western series Gunsmoke. His mother taught him and his siblings to sing, regularly playing music from Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Elvis. His parents were evangelical born-again Christians, which caused tension when he came out to them as gay at 19 after moving to Spokane, Washington. His brother is a pastor who preached on the 700 Club. Eventually, the family accepted his sexuality.
Later, Jackson moved to Seattle, where he worked as an ad executive at a magazine and did theater on the side, earning his Equity card. Inspired to rethink his career after both a family death and the 9/11 attacks, he moved to New York. He is openly gay and an LGBTQ rights supporter, as well as an ambassador for amfAR and the national ambassador for The Hetrick-Martin Institute. Jackson's partner, Monte Lapka, is a physicist; they have been together since 2000.
