我不是说老版好于新版，新版的节奏性强，现代观众已经不需要那么多对话来一点点堆砌人物的形象，直接get the point才不会让人感到无聊到要在影院里呼呼睡去。新版的对话戏剧性更强，原来那些关于德州人的讥谐，关于战争时哪里服役的有一段没一段的谈话都变成了一触即发的矛盾点，甚至导致了分道扬镳。不能否认新版的可看性更强。
但就演员来说，Jeff Bridges和John Wayne的气场绝对没法比，一把胡子加上眼罩一遮，我简直看不清楚Bridges的表情，不能说不是硬汉，但和69版比起来，感觉更像是说话嘴里老是含了一口痰的糟老头。
