AngsumalinChalasinisthemaincharacterofthestory.ShegrowsupinasmallhousebytheNoiRiverinBangkok,Thailand,withoutherfather'scare.Herfather,LuangChalasinturaj,isaseniorofficerintheRoyalThaiNavyandleftAngsumalinandhermother,Orn,topursuehiscareerandmarryanotherwoman.Angsumalin'sbestfriendisVanus,whoconfesseshisloveforherbeforeleavingforstudiesabroad.Hepromisestogiveherananswerwhenhereturns.AngsumalinbeginslearningJapanesefromadentistnamedDr.Yoshi,wholivesnearherhousebythemarket.However,thewarbreaksout,andDr.Yoshireturnstothemilitary,revealinghimselfasaJapaneseinvader.ThisdisappointsandangersAngsumalin.Oneday,AngsumalinencountersayoungJapaneseImperialNavyofficernamedKobori,whoisstationedatanearbyJapanesenavaldockyard.AngsumalinopenlyexpressesherhatredfortheJapanesemilitary.KoboriordersthepunishmentoflocalorchardworkersTaBuaandTaPon,whoarefamiliarwithAngsumalinandworkforKoboributhadstolengasolinefromtheJapanesemilitary.AsKoborispendstimewithAngsumalin,hequicklyfallsinlovewithher.Hemanagestobuildagoodrelationshipwithherfamily.WhenAngsumalin'sgrandmotherfallsill,hebringsDr.Takedatotakecareofher.Angsumalin'smother,impressedbyKobori'skindnessandfriendlinesstowardsherfamily,developsfeelingsforhimandcallshim"PorDokMali"(Mr.Jasmine).Oneafternoon,Angsumalinisaloneathomewhenanairraidsirensounds.Koboritakeshertoanearbytrenchshelter,andabombexplodes.KoborishieldsAngsumalinwithhisbody,andbeforetheyloseconsciousness,heconfesseshisloveforher.Wheneverythingreturnstonormal,Angsumalin'sfamilyfindsthemlyinginthetrench,causingrumorsanddamagingAngsumalin'sreputation.Meanwhile,Angsumalin'sfather,LuangChalasinturaj,getsinvolvedinpoliticalissuesandisaccusedofbeingamemberofthe"FreeThailandMovement."ThereisalsopoliticaltensionbetweenThailandandJapan.KoboribecomesanexampleofaJapaneseofficerbuildingfriendlyrelationshipswiththelocalcommunity,andtheyhopethathisrelationshipwithAngsumalincanhelpeasetheconflict.LuangChalasinturajpersonallytalkstoAngsumalinandinstructshertomarryKoboritoresolvealltheproblems.Angsumalinrealizesthatshemaybeforcedintothismarriageduetopoliticalreasonsbutsuccumbstoit.Onthedayoftheengagement,KoboridiscoversAngsumalinhelpingherfriendsescapefromtheJapanesemilitary,puttingherlifeindanger.ThestorycontinueswiththechallengesandconflictsfacedbyAngsumalinandKoboriastheynavigatetheirtragiclovestoryamidstthebackdropofwarandpoliticalturmoil.

历史往往过于庞大，那些被推动的步伐当中，有些人总是掉了队，甚至直接被遗忘或者湮灭。
但牢记于幸存的人心中，除了刻骨的恨，深埋的怨，缠绕一生的阴影之外，总有几丝波动，让人能产生的其他情感，对，就是爱。
虽然，产生的地点并不是正确的，甚至连时间也是错误的，但是，并不妨碍它慢慢发芽，被多种因素辗压，最后长成一颗大树，但是却始终浸入在炮火甚至和血腥中。
爱，和战争一样。
两个人的相逢，然后默默的由陌生，变成熟悉，最后微微动心，说简单却不简单，说难但是却很常见。
可惜，热恋，在错误的地点和时间里，往往是很难发生的，纵使，有着付出或者一厢情愿，但是一旦和国仇家恨挂上钩，个人的爱在深，都会被庞大的战争的恶意炮火，统统淹没。

但是，结局呢？
战争告诉了你…………爱和战争是一样的，没有输赢，也无法定义输赢，
