剧情简介： Married carnival performers face the harsh reality of their situation in this silent film, where they are subjected to the abuses of their employer. The story centers on a couple in the circus, struggling under the oppressive rule of their employer, who makes unwelcome advances toward the wife. When her refusal to comply with his desires leads to his wrath, he taunts a lion, putting her life in danger. The other performers, witnessing this injustice, conspire to seek revenge in a unique and daring plot. Directed by Jaque Catelain, who also stars in the film, the movie was produced for Marcel L'Herbier's influential production company. While L'Herbier's involvement is sometimes noted as co-director, the film primarily credits Catelain as the director. Known for its innovative rapid-fire editing techniques, which were ahead of their time, "Monstrous Display" is a film that offers a glimpse into the darker side of circus life and the lengths people will go to for justice.
